Drawing and Painting for adults in Assen (NL)

Are you interested in receiving instruction on drawing and painting in Assen? For those who want to start with art or revive the interest, two English spoken courses are offered. Course I - Starting From Scratch – a course for those who want to learn (or go back to) the basics. Course II – Developing Your Art - for those who have done art work before and want to explore what else is possible, to expand their horizons. Making art means one needs to look at the world around us in a different way then what is used for everyday life and work. These courses will be based on the artistic way of looking at the world around us. Course I – Starting From Scratch: this is a classical course, learning to understand the basic elements needed for drawing and painting such as shape and negative shape, tonal values, colour, angle and direction, as well as an introduction to materials such as paint (oil acrylic, watercolour, gouache), brushes, pastel, charcoal, paper, etc. and how to handle them. As the course matures students are encouraged to explore what is most interesting for them personally. Paper, pencils etc. will be provided the first lesson. A list of materials needed for the rest of the course will be handed out and discussed. Course II – Developing Your Art: for those who have been working with art but want more guidance in what works best for them. The lessons each start with a short series of sketches as a 'warming-up' as well as an introduction to a theme or subject with information on an art related subject which will refer to the individual projects students are working on. Each student can set personal goals and will be guided in achieving these. Whatever problem you find needs tackling, whether it is perspective, mixing the colour you really want rather than settling for what seems to appear on the palette, subject matter, or any others, you will find the answers in this course. You will need to provide your own materials. For the first lesson bring what you've been working with, at least pencil and paper. Combining her assets of art and English she will be teaching these courses for the first time in Assen in 2011.
