WelcomeDutchArabicSiteAbout

We are proud to inform you that the
counting has stopped, and . . .

On 06 January 1999 our son Nabil was born at 13.37 hours. Nabil weighed 3.665 kg at birth, and was 50 cm long. His name, in arabic written as ,
means noble, distinguished, magnificent.

The biscuits shown are the traditional "beschuit met muisjes" (muisjes=mice), served to family and friends in the Netherlands at the occasion of a newborn. "Beschuit" is crispy, spread with butter, and served with "muisjes", anis-seed covered with coloured suger, rose for girls, blue for boys.
The origin of this tradition is said to be superstition, mice being seen as a symbol for fertility (with some immagination anis seed looks like mice).
