A. Contrasts or contrarieties

In the following listings of subsequently the contrasts / contrarieties and the opposites / counterparts / complements / dualities I'll put things in order. Next to Whitehead's abstract notions you find my explanation and the astrological equivalents. The sequence is that of the phases of the earlier described process. The first phase contrasts with the second phase, the second with the third and so on and so forth. Finally the last phase contrasts with the first phase. From the satisfaction of the one phase comes the challenge to the contrasting next. The contrasts are always based upon difference of direction and difference of mode of action (make, claim, deal with). Since the contrast between the inner self and the necessary environment which is active in the phases of the process is also to be found in the sequence of the zodiacal signs I have added them to both listings.
 
  1. - triviality - without meaning / one single impression

B. Opposites / counterparts / complements / dualities

Oppositional notions and phases have more in common than two consecutive notions and phases which are contrasting in all respects. They both have the same direction or polarity and the same mode of action (make, claim, deal with). Only the space-time aspects are different. That offers a possibility to combine the two poles, although it will create confusion initially. The opposities or dualities in the cyclic process always comprise a confrontation of the Singularity with the Other / the Experience / the Environment. The cause being that one pole is always in the first part of the circle in which the 'Self' is put in order and, consequently, the opposite pole is located in the second half where the relation with the 'Environment' or 'Outer world' in the form of reflection in 'the Other' is at stake.
