This website is about the history of the
German 11th Infantry Regiment from The 11th I.R. was involved in the German
occupation of the city of The battles around Rzhev and Wjasma are not
so well known with the most people as the fighting around Stalingrad, This is strange because the Russian army lost
more people near Rzhew-Wjasma then anywhere else during the entire war! In the course of time I gathered a lot of
information about the whole situation, the 11the Infantry Regiment, pictures,
maps and so on. Because of all the information I had I
decided to bundle it on this Website. With this site I hope to give a clear view of
what happened in this terrible period. That is why I will not only tell the personal
tragedy about Karl Lessig but also the events that made the Rzhev-Wjasma
salient. |
