On the first place I am a portraitpainter. There lays my greatest passion
For me a good portrait is more than just a good likeness; therefore I focus on the entire persoon. The attitude and the clothing to me are important means of expression. I always try to create a relaxed atmosphere and to find a natural, unforced pose for a model.
I use a digital camera to shoot pictures in the confidence-creating environment of their own home. The portraits are not classical in the true sense of the word, they have a distinct Gertrudis style about them. Powerful, clear and colourful. They are contemporary portraits with a timeless quality.
My main objective is to translate the essence of the persoon portrayed onto the canvas.
There is room for specific ideas of the parents.
