after
his exit music!! Lovely dancing, daft acting, beautiful music and

Review
West End LondonMarti Pellow plays sleezy lawyer Billy Flynn In a very basic enviroment, no change of clothing, no decors, this musical still fascinates from start to end. It is the fantastic music brought by a small very enthusiastic band, the lively dancing, the fast and gripping acting and the splendid vocals which make it so amazing and attractive! In the first half an hour the story unfolds to the point where lawyer Billy Flynn, announced by the girls, has his first stage presence. Singing "All I Care About Is Love" in his own marvelous way Marti get's a huge applause at the grand end of the song. It's soon clear the part suits him like the smart tuxedo he wears. The heavy Scottish accent disappeared almost totally, replaced by an easy to understand American one. He talks fast with a deep voice and his anger is absolutely fascinating. Top entertainment is the song "Both Reached For The Gun" where Billy takes over when the suspect Roxie gives the wrong impression to the press. Fabulous singing and daft acting. The long note is immense and the audience is obvious delighted. All the time you see the band playing in the back, the performing very close to the front of the stage. It's an all dancing singing razzling performance which hold you in it's grip all the way. Very suitable of title is the song "Razzle Dazzle", it's amazing and beautiful. All in all a great evening with a splendid cast, many funny moments to enjoy, and fantastic music. (c) 15 July 2002 Monique van Spellen |
Review
West End London
Marti extends his performance till November 16th This
was supposed to be Marti's latest appearance as Billy Flynn (September
21st) but due to his success playing the part it wasn't. We went twice
to the show, and I was expecting the Matinee to be a bit more modest,
especially
the audience, but the atmosphere was fantastic! Marti really seemed to
enjoy himself and I thought he was totally grown into the part. His
singing
was marvelous and his acting was deft and amusing. He has unbelievable
facial expressions! For 'Mary Sunshine' it was a special day; for the
last
time Andie Emerson played this amazing character and he liked to
brighten
the occasion up a bit by changing his clothes into more piquant ones.
Obvious
he didn't tell before so Marti exploded with laughter seeing it. The
audience
was really enjoying this incident, it was so funny.
