About this site...

This side was designed and maintained by Hans Hockx. Unfortunately his Psion broke and Hans decided to go for other platforms altogether. Hans asked me if I wanted to maintain the OS/2 connection which I want to do gladly. I think that it is important to show the world that there are more and better alternatives than Microsofts Windows only and to support those with less powerfull but still functional systems.

When you buy a Psion PDA you will find a CDROM in the box with software to connect your Psion to a desktop computer. It wil perform necessary tasks like:

  • Copy files to and from the Psion to your PC
  • Backup your Psion to a desktop computer
  • Restore data from computer to Psion
  • Convert Psion file-formats to PC file-formats
  • Install programs on your Psion
  • etc.
Problem is that Psion only supplies software for Windows based computers. It seems they don't understand that these utilities are also very much needed when using OS/2, Linux, Apple or any other kind of OS.
If the Psion-developers would have been real smart, they would have programmed their software in JAVA so that it could be run on many operating systems.

Since they didn't 'look out of their windows' I had to search the net for all the stuff needed to make the combination of OS/2 (and of course its successor, eComStation) and Psion work for me.
I decided to spend some of my time to publish the results of this search on the Web for anyone who is interested in the same subject.
If you can add information based on your own experience: please do (use the 'send feedback to' tag at the bottum of this page). Help me to give the OS/2 to Psion Connection its own little place on the World Wide Web!!
