A second-best solution?

In my opinion it's always best to use native OS/2 software. But we sometimes have to settle for compromises. Maybe that's why IBM added support for DOS and Windows 3.x to OS/2...
Older 16-bit versions of Psion's software can be run under WinOS/2.
The programs mentioned below can be used in a WinOS/2 or an OS/2 DOS-box. .

Program RCOM 1.14
Author Psion Computers Plc.
Description RCOM 1.14 is a DOS-based communications package for connecting Psion PDA's to a desktop PC. It can be installed as a DOS-utility or as a Windows 3.x utility. Both can be used from within the OS/2 environment using a DOS or WinOS/2 session.
RCOM 1.14 was developed for use with the Psion series 3 classic and the Psion series 3a. But it can also be used with the Psion Workabout and newer EPOC PDA's. In version 1.14 baudrate is limited to 19.200. It's main purpose is to backup and restore data on your Psion. But visit the RCom pages to find out that it can do a lot more.

Program RCOM 1.16

Description RCOM 1.16 is a DOS-based communications package for connecting Psion PDA's to a desktop PC. It can be installed as a DOS-utility or as a Windows 3.x utility. Both can be used from within the OS/2 environment using a DOS or WinOS/2 session.
RCOM 1.16 was developed for use with the Psion series 3c and up. But it can also be used with the newer EPOC PDA's. In version 1.16 baudrate is limited to the maximum speed of the serial port i.e 115.200. Psion series 3c and up can therefore be used at full speed. It's main purpose is to backup and restore data on your Psion. But it can do a lot more. Visit the extensive RCom pages on Joop Nijenhuis's to learn more.

Program PsiWin 1.1
Author Psion Computers Plc.
Description This is a 16-bit Win3.x based predecessor of the current versions of PsiWin. It was developed for use with the Psion Siena, Series 3, Workabout, MC and HC. It will convert Psion files (word, spreadsheet, database, notes, sound and even pictures) to corresponding Office-formats (not only MS!) and back. Only older formats (i.e Word6.0 Excel5.0) are supported, but most of them can easilly be read with StarOffice or Lotus SmartSuite.
PsiWin 1.1 will run OK under WIN-OS2. Both full screen, in a window and seamlessly. It will also connect to EPOC machines, and backs up splendidly. Native file conversions will not work with the EPOC computers (thanks to Stuart Gray for testing).

I've never been able to find PsiWin 1.1 but Joop did. There are direct links on his homepage to this software. It's available in several languages.
