Brief summary of research over the last seven years

During the past seven years my research has centred on various aspects of the legal relationship between parents and children. In this field I have published on national and international adoption, parental responsibility, child protection issues and legal parenthood. My PhD thesis, which represents the main body of the research done over the past seven years, concerns the possibilities for establishing a legal relationship between a child and a non-biological parents under Dutch and English law. In the conclusion of my thesis I propose changes to the existing legislation in The Netherlands and point out that possibly agreements may play a role in the course of establishing such a relationship.
