Robberflies (Diptera: Asilidae) and Bombylid flies (Bombyliidae) both are small families in the Netherlands. Robber flies count 39 while Bombylid flies count 14 species. Most are thermophilic species. Within the framework of EIS-Netherlands, all collections have been surveyed and field data are included.
The applet takes information from Faunist to display a map of the Netherlands, the activity period and the yearly records. This information is most basic in invertebrate recording. The stand alone Faunist adds a lot more, such as more graphical comparisons, numerical results and statistical tests. Faunist produces output that is directly read by the FaunistApplet, providing a way to publish Faunist results on internet.
How does the applet work ?
The leftmost selection box at the top allows you to select a species. Click on the arrow to view the list. Once the box is selected, the arrow keys up and down on the keyboard can be used to scroll the species. Selecting from the rightmost box adds a second species to the graphs. The map is shown on the left, the activity period and the yearly records on the right. Use the options below to switch between the latter two. Some browsers show a stray print button which only generates an error message.
