The goal of this design exercise was to design a tea kettle with whistle, based on simple rotational symmetric shapes. Every product uses some specific form-vocabulary. This form-vocabulary is defined by the collection of basic shapes that make up the product. In this exercise the meaning of using a specific form-vocabulary was illustrated by limiting the basic shapes we could use to rotational symmetric shapes only. I cheated a little.

The kettle's blue whistle lets steam out trough a freely rotating nozzle. When it whistles, the force of the escaping steam drives the nozzle in circles, resulting in a spiralling steam trail. Not that this adds any functionality, it just makes tea making a little more interesting.
