High point ... Bee Gees Maurice, Robin and Barry Gibb are set for New Year gongs from the Queen
POP legends the Bee Gees are to be awarded gongs in the New Year’s Honours List.
The Gibb brothers — Barry, 55, and twins Robin and Maurice, 52 — will be made Commanders of the British Empire, allowing them to put CBE after their names.
They will collect the gongs from the Queen at Buckingham Palace early next year.
It is the first time the group, who made their debut in 1955, have been officially honoured for their huge contribution to pop.

LONDON, England -- The Bee Gees, whose famous falsettos have helped them to notch up chart hits across five decades, and actor Ben Kingsley are among the great and good of Britain feted in the Queen's New Year Honours List for 2002.
The brothers -- Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb -- were the masterminds behind one of the biggest selling albums of all time,
the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack, and successful singles for themselves and other artists.
The Bee Gees, will set off on a planned 100-show greatest hits global tour in January each with the new title of
Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) -- a title also awarded to world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis.
Ben Kingsley, best known for his portrayal of Gandhi and his starring role in the Steven Spielberg hit "Schindler's List,"
becomes a knight -- earning him the right to be addressed as "Sir Ben."
Also knighted was director Alan Parker, best known for helming "Angela's Ashes," "The Commitments" and "Fame."
Other awards went to pop singer Sade, best known for her hit "Smooth Operator" and actress Lynn Redgrave. Lesley Garrett,
one of Britain's leading opera stars who has successfully crossed over into mainstream stardom, was awarded the CBE.
Singer Daniel O'Donnell, one of Ireland's greatest musical exports, was awarded an honorary MBE for his decades of service to the industry.
There is also a KBE in the diplomatic list for CNN contributor Mark Tully for services to broadcasting and journalism overseas.
The New Year Honours also recognise the "exceptional work" performed by members of the British Consulate-General in
New York in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center twin towers in
which dozens of Britons were among the nearly 3,000 who perished.

A star-studded concert
featuring some of Britain's best known pop acts has
marked the 30th anniversary of the Prince's Trust. The
glittering cast of performers entertained the Prince of
Wales and an audience of 2,000 in the historic grounds of
