De missie van maart ging naar Gambia, een rivieroever midden in Senegal in West Afrika.
Gambia is een populair oord voor korte vliegvakanties vanuit Europa. De vertegenwoordiging van de Wereldbank heeft een kantoor in het gebouw van de Verenigde Naties, aan Kofi Annan Street. Er tegenover ligt het Ocean Bay Resort. Daar logeert de staf van de Bank.

Elke dag komt er een vliegtuig vol toeristen aan: de ene dag uit Spanje, de volgende uit Nederland, Engeland enzovoort. Het centrale punt van het hotel is het zwembad. Het zwarte pak is hier erg overdressed. The March mission was to The Gambia, a stretch of river surrounded by Senegal in West Africa. Gambia is popular for its inclusive tour- holidays from Europe. The Bank's local representation has an office in the UN building on Kofi Annan Street. We stay in Ocean Bay resort across the road. Every day a planeload full of tourists arrives: now from Spain, the next day from the Netherlands, from the UK, etc. The hotel's focal point is the swimming pool. I feel very overdressed in my black suit.

Het kantoor is klein. Dit is mijn collega Moussou Soukoule die ook op bezoek is. Haar missie gaat over gezondheidszorg. Helemaal rechts de jurist van de bank voor Gambia, Muthoni Kaniaru. Wij zijn op bezoek in het ministerie van justitie.
