Don't use ####'s patch.

<OFFICIAL SETI@home statement>

 UNAUTHORIZED PATCHES TO CLIENT: It has come to our attention that some
 users are distributing unauthorized patches to the SETI@home client.
 We cannot verify that these patches function properly and are virus
 free. It is very important to the science of SETI@home that you run
 only the unmodified SETI@home program.

</OFFICIAL SETI@home statement>

Do not use patches, unless endorsed by the SETI@home project team.
They will publish new software on their website. Use that only.

####, identifying your patched client is scientific. Do it.
Releasing your code to the S@H project team is wise. Do it.

Don't use ####'s patch.

Date: Sat, 27 Nov 1999 13:08:21 +0100 From: Alfred Das Organization: @Home To: #### <####@####.##> References: 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 Hi ####, I've done some research, we are in fact spamming. It doesn't matter how it's done or what the postings contain or if it's a good cause or not. There is opposition already in the NG, even from people that are in 'our camp'. I urge you to stop sending those [patch] replies. Have we lost? No! Others are contacting ISP's and webhosts where #### is uploading his patch. I'm working on something different. It is signature based. I'll contact you soon. Thanks for the fight anyway. ####. Seeya soon, Alfred.
