We arrived in Ruili
early in the morning of the first day of the waterthrowing New Year
festival.
That day neatly dressed groups from the various tribes in the area gather at
the market square outside the town. |
| |
Lining up along the road to welcome the other groups.
Lining up in front of the platform to listen to speeches of officials. |
After the speeches some of the tribes perform.... |
...while others watch in front...
...or wait behind. |
In the mean time some can't wait to start throwing water, but...
...at the end hell breaks loose and everybody joins the waterthrowing.
