Introduction

The man Job experienced hard times during his life. Once a man of wealth and fortune, his life turned upside down because of some disasters. These disasters were caused by a spiritual battle. Job lost everything he had, including his children and his wife.

This site tries to explain the days in which Job lived. Page 1 shows the weather conditions. Page 2 describes great disasters and page 3 tries to outline the impact of these disasters on the society. Page 4 talks about the age in which this all happened.

But before all it is important to show Job was a real human being in real history. Reading Ezekiel 14:14 and 20 should be sufficient. Here God mentions him together with Daniel and Noah. James 5:11 also talks about him as a real man, receiving compassion and mercy of God.

The Days of Job is a continuation of The Genesis Site. (The Genesis Site is presently only available in Dutch on De Genesis Site)
The Genesis Site deals with the history of mankind from the very beginning until Genesis 11, the Babel disaster and its impact on men. Important part of The Genesis Site are myths, told all over the world by all kind of tribes and nations. The Days of Job on the other hand is a specific study of the Book of Job. This Old Testament Book gives enough subject matter to think about and to consider its place in the history of mankind.

I can imagine you will have a lot of questions about the book of Job when you have read this site. But don't take everything just for granted! Take a closer look yourself! To keep the Bible close at hand I put online Bible possibilities on each page. You can search either for particular words or particular verses. (For Word Search: type in your word, choose a translation and hit GO. Quick Verse is easy to use too: choose your Bible book, choose a translation, fill in your chapter, fill in your verse and hit GO.)

Though you might expect it, there is one thing you will not find on this site about Job: an explanation or study about life and suffering and what God has to do (or not to do) with this difficult subject. In the links-list however you will find some good sites for this.

On The Genesis Site I said we have to think seriously about the relationship between God and mankind. Because He takes this serious too. From Job we can learn to trust in Him, even in hard times. God cares about us and He wil not hesitate to show us His overwhelming love and mercy. Let us be strong and expect what He has in mind for all of us!
