The story of what happened in and around Rzhew is not so familiar as the stories of the events of Stalingrad, Kursk, CHarkov or Moscow. Even though the Russian army lost more people and more material around Rzhew then it did anywhere else.

The battle for Rzhew lasted more then a year. The Russian army attacked the Germans on many occasions. But the German army managed time after time to repel all heavy Russian attacks.

But despite this both side’s left this part of history out of there history books.

Dispite that, there are some publications made about the Rzhew battles.

The publications of D.M. Glantz are viewed more from the Russian side.

De gebeurtenissen rond de plaats Rzhev zijn niet zo bekend als gebeurtenissen rond bijvoorbeeld Stalingrad, Kursk, Charkov of Moskou. Toch heeft het Russische leger in hun strijd rond Rzhev meer mensen verloren dan in welke andere strijd ook. De slag om Rzhev heeft meer dan 1 jaar geduurd. Het Duitse leger wist keer op keer de Zware Russische aanvallen af te slaan. En toch is het verhaal van de ellende die beide partijen hier hebben ondervonden uit te meeste geschiedenisboeken verdwenen.

Er is echter wel het e.e.a. gepubliceerd over de slag.

Een vertaling van de Duitse publicatie:

Geschichte des 11.(Sachs.) Infanterie-regiments, späteren Infanterie-Regiments 11 und Grenadier-Regiments 11 von 1918-1945.

Deze Duitse publicatie van het IR 11 is een zogenaamd veldverslag, gemaakt door de leidinggevenden van de eenheid in het veld en is puur vanuit het gezichtspunt van de Duitse troepen verteld.

Rzhev: Eckpfeiler der Ostfront is een boek van Horst Grossman. Grossman was commandant van het Duitse 6^de Infanterie Divisie, dus zelf direct betrokken bij de gebeurtenissen in en rond Rzhev.

En een vertaling van de Engelse publicatie:

De publicatie van D.M. Glantz is meer vanuit te Russische zijde is gezien, maar is niet zo gedetailleerd als het Duitse rapport.

Daarnaast zijn er diverse artikelen van internet afgehaald. Waar dit het geval is wordt daar zo veel mogelijkmelding van gemaakt en wordt de oorspronkelijke titel en de auteur aangegeven.
