During July and August of 2001 Etna erupted from both the top and several fissures at the flank. Unfortunately this unusual event stopped just three weeks before we went to Sicily for our honeymoon. No photos of violently erupting Etna but only photos from the after effects ; new and still hot lava flows, an almost engulfed souvenir shop, a blocked road and gas releasing cones. Not the real thing, for that we went to Stromboli, but interesting anyway.
