Quirks and Features

The Bad
  • No onscreen mirror (have to press a button for rear view).
  • No options to turn off car damage or camera shake.
  • The graphics are more hazy than they could/should be, and some tracks have way too much clutter. The combination of hazy graphics and abundance of clutter makes it very difficult to tell what's road and what's not, making some of the street races extremely annoying.
  • Uses different money values depending on Country setting. A common currency (like the credits used in the Gran Turismo series) would've been more practical.
  • The general impression is that this game is more for fans of illegal street racing games and not so much for fans of simulations. For example, races will typically include lots of crashing and the debris from crashes is left on the track for the rest of the race.
  • The Milan tracks are out of place. These are tracks for fans of street racing games but they're included in the Europe region where all of the other tracks are for fans of simulations of real-life circuit racing. You can see how misplaced Milan is by looking at the full list of tracks in the Europe region: Donington, Istanbul, Jarama, Le Mans, Milan, Nurburgring, Spa-Francorchamps.
  • Even with the Difficulty set to Basic (the easiest), the grid lineup will sometimes include the Ravenwest team, which essentially gives you races that are a few notches more difficult than what you asked for.
The Good
  • Includes an option to turn off AutoSave.
  • Uses the same championship points system for all events (GRID Autosport uses a baffling 9 different point systems for its championships).
  • The settings in Race Day mode are persistent (in GRID Autosport, settings are lost after each race).
  • As far as I can tell, the original program (Grid1 v1.00) doesn't use any harddisk space for program data (not to be confused with user data). This makes Grid1 v1.00 ideal for low-resource PS3s such as the 12 GB/GO version (CECH-4004A). Note, however, that v1.03 does use about 19 MB (see Game Versions).
  • Includes formula cars and LM prototypes, and includes some real-life tracks that may appeal to fans of real-life racing simulations.
  • A Le Mans 24-Hour race ends when the time runs out, so there's no time wasted on finishing the last lap.

The Cars

Car List

For the Car column of the table below, cars that have a sponsor shown in parentheses are "special livery" cars that can be acquired by winning the
Tier4 Head2Head or by using Bonus Codes. For the columns after Class: G=Grade, Spd=TopSpeed, Acc=Acceleration, Grp=Grip, Brk=Brakes, Crn=Cornering, and SValue=SaleValue. Cornering info is from Driver Offers mode, so a dash (-) in the Crn column means that the car is not used in that mode. '--' in the Price column means that the car can't be bought, while '--' in the SValue column means that the car can't be sold. All prices are in Pounds (multiply by 1.5 for Euros, or multiply by 2 for Dollars). For the Eligible For column, events marked with an asterisk (*) are ones where the car is required. Note that only 47 of the 48 cars are ownable since there is no way to acquire a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Also note that cars can only be bought via the events that they're eligible for, and there is no way to buy a car that you already own. To replace a car, you have to sell it first (via Grid World > View Cars) before you're allowed to rebuy it.

Cars By Class

The table below is meant to make it easier to compare the cars of a particular class. Note that the single-car classes (Club GT, Demolition Derby, Formula 1000, and Formula 3) are not listed, since there are no cars to compare in those classes. If you're thinking about buying a used car to save some money, keep in mind that the cheaper ones might not be as competitive as the new versions. In general, used cars are probably only worth considering if you want a bit of a challenge. But even if you do want more of a challenge, it might be better to just buy a "lesser" new car rather than a "better" used one (e.g., rather than buy a used Audi R10, you could just buy a new Courage LC70 or other new LMP1 car instead).

Driver Offers

While the events in
Race Events are championships where you use cars owned by your team, the events in Driver Offers are single races using cars owned by other teams. Here, you basically take on the role of "driver for hire", and this is where you start your career in Grid World. The Driver Offers screen gives you 3 teams to choose from. If you haven't yet unlocked Tier4, those teams (from top to bottom) will correspond to the USA, Europe, and Japan regions. In general, each region features a different style of racing:
  • USAMainly street racing of the legal kind.
  • EuropeMainly simulation style racing on tracks from real life.
  • JapanMainly drifting and various forms of illegal street racing.
At the upper right of the Driver Offers screen, there is a bar that shows the amount of RP (Reputation Points) that you've earned in the region that's currently selected. The bar is color-coded as follows:
Red = USA  Blue = Europe  Light Gray = Japan  Dark Gray = Global
If you haven't yet unlocked Tier4 (1,000,000 Global RP), you can use the amount shown in the bar to find out which Tier you're currently in, for that region:
 • 0 - 79,999 : Tier1 • 80,000 - 249,999 : Tier2 • 250,000 or more : Tier3
Note that, once a higher Tier has been unlocked in a region, the Driver Offers of that region's previous Tier will no longer be available. And, once you've unlocked Tier4, all 3 regions will no longer be represented in Driver Offers mode. From then on, any RP that you earn in Driver Offers will count towards your Global RP only. In the table below, Driver Offers are listed in the order that they appear in-game, and wraparound is implemented. For the column headers, AF=AppearanceFee, OB=ObjectiveBonus, and RP=ReputationPoints. Note that RP depends on the difficulty settings, and the amount shown is for Basic (the easiest level).

Race Events

The Race Events section of Grid World is available after you've earned your first 40,000 Pounds (or equivalent in other currency). While the events in
Driver Offers are single races using cars owned by other teams, the events in Race Events are championships using cars owned by your team. Event groups (A-J) are unlocked by obtaining licenses. The 3 Tier1 licenses are obtained simply by finishing the 1-lap introductory race, while all other licenses can be obtained individually. A Tier2 license is obtained when you've earned 80,000 RP in a region, while a Tier3 license requires 250,000 RP. The table below shows an overview of the 10 licenses that can be obtained in Race Events mode.
A. US Tier1 : ARL Rookie BadgeB. EU Tier1 : Euro R LicenseC. JP Tier1 : J-Speed Rookie
D. US Tier2 : ARL Pro BadgeE. EU Tier2 : Euro B LicenseF. JP Tier2 : J-Speed Super Two
G. US Tier3 : ARL National BadgeH. EU Tier3 : Euro A LicenseI. JP Tier3 : J-Speed Super One
J. Tier4 : Global Racing League
The Tier4 license is awarded when you've earned a total of 1,000,000 Global RP. The Global RP is the sum of all of the RP earned in Driver Offers, Race Events, and the Le Mans 24-Hour. Note that obtaining the Tier4 license also earns you any/all of the other licenses that you didn't already have. The complete list of the major milestones that come with special rewards is listed below.
 # Milestone ReachedRewards
1Introductory race finished3 Tier1 licenses (one for each region: USA, Europe, Japan)
2First 40,000 Pounds earnedRace Events unlocked, Mustang Boss 302 restored, team created
 3First Tier2 License obtainedNew 2-car garage, teammate
41,000,000 Global RP earnedTier4 plus all remaining licenses, all event groups unlocked
 5Global Head2Head wonAll 42 buyable cars, 5 bonus cars, 5 cheats

The championships in Race Events can consist of 1-5 races. For each race, championship points are awarded as follows:
  1st:  20   2nd:  18   3rd:  16   4th:  14   5th:  12   6th:  10   7th:  8   8th:  6   9th:  5   10th:  4   11th:  3   12th:  2

In the table below, the first column shows the name of the event and the class of eligible cars (along with prices in parentheses). The Tracks column shows the tracks when the event is done for the first time. Note that, when doing an event a subsequent time, the list of tracks will often be different than the first time around (e.g., you may get different variations of a track, or you may get different tracks altogether). The Rewards column shows what you'll earn for finishing the event in 3rd, 2nd, or 1st overall. The column headers show the amount of RP (Reputation Points) awarded, and this amount will be the same for all of the events of the same Tier. However, when doing the same event multiple times, the RP reward is halved after each win (e.g., if the event awards 16,000 RP the first time around, it'll only award 8,000 RP the second time around, and only 4,000 RP if done a third time). Also note that the RP shown is for the Basic difficulty setting; higher difficulty levels will earn you more RP. Each entry of the Rewards column consists of 2 lines: PM is Prize Money and SO is
Sponsor Offers. Note that Prize Money is in Pounds (multiply by 1.5 for Euros, or multiply by 2 for Dollars).

Le Mans 24-Hour

A complete Season in Grid World consists of 5 events. After every 4 events in
Race Events, Driver Offers, and/or Head2Heads, regardless of the final results, you'll be given the opportunity to participate in the Le Mans 24-Hour, which is essentially the 5th event and Season finale. The race uses accelerated time and takes about 15 minutes to complete. The menu for the LM24H includes the following items:
Driver OffersTeam EntrySkip Le Mans 24Hr
For Driver Offers, the available choices of teams will depend on your highest Tier in any region:
 • Tier1: GT2 • Tier2: GT1 • Tier3: LMP2/LMP1 • Tier4: LMP1
However, if you own a car that's eligible for the LM24H, the Team Entry option allows you to use that car regardless of your highest Tier. As in real life, the race includes cars from various classes and you only really need to compete with other cars in the same class. This means that a GT1 class win will usually be somewhere around 7th place overall and a GT2 class win will usually be somewhere around 10th place overall. An overall win (as opposed to a class win) can earn you the 3 sponsor offers below. Note that, although an overall win is possible using an LMP1 car chosen via the Driver Offers option, the sponsor offers below will only be awarded if you use a car chosen via the Team Entry option; this is apparently because it's the team (not the driver) that receives the sponsorship.
 • Max Power: pays 35,000 • Acer: pays 65,000 • Bang & Olufsen: pays 100,000
If you want to do some practice runs using various cars, you can do so in Race Day. For the table below, AF=AppearanceFee, OB=ObjectiveBonus, and RP=ReputationPoints. Note that RP depends on the difficulty settings, and the amount shown is for Basic.

Head 2 Heads

A Head2Head will be available when all of the trophies of an event group have been won. Head2Heads can only be won once but will be available until then (press [Triangle] to open). Your opponent in all of these will be a
Ravenwest driver. In the table below, with one exception, the prize money shown is pretty much all you'll earn, other than a bonus for unused Flashbacks (i.e., there are no rewards for team or sponsor objectives, and there are no Reputation Points awarded). The one exception is the Tier4 Head2Head which does award more than just prize money (see below). Note that, since there is no RP reward, it doesn't really serve much purpose to set a higher Difficulty level unless you want more of a challenge or unless you're doing the Tier4 Head2Head (which can only be done at the Extreme level). If you want to do a practice run of a Head2Head, you can do so in Race Day.

RA. US Tier1 : Classic Muscle

Winning the Tier4 Head2Head (RJ) will unlock the 5 bonus cars below (if you haven't already unlocked them via Bonus Codes) plus any/all of the 42 buyable cars that you don't already own. If you wanted to replace all of your used cars with brand new ones, you could sell all but one before doing the Head2Head. Note that, when using any of the 5 cars below, no sponsorship money is awarded since (apparently) these "special livery" cars have their own set of sponsors.
  • Aston Martin DBR9 (Play.com)  • BMW 320si (BuchBinder)  • BMW 320si (GameStation)
  • Ford Mustang GT-R Concept (eBay)  • Pagani Zonda R (Micromania)
The Tier4 Head2Head also awards the 5 cheats below, which can be accessed via MainMenu > Options > Bonus Codes. Note that, with any of these cheats activated, all event results will be invalidated and you'll end up with the equivalent of a DNF. These cheats are therefore mainly only useful for having fun (i.e., not for normal gameplay).
  • All Race Day Events  • No Damage  • AI Driver  • Speed Boost  • Repulsor Field
One other reward for winning the Tier4 Head2Head is the addition of the Ninja difficulty level, which may be of interest to hardcore gamers. The complete list of options is then: Basic, Normal, Serious, Savage, Extreme, Ninja.

Gameplay

Getting Started
  1. On first-time startup, you're first asked to enter your First Name, Last Name, and Country. You'll then be asked to choose an Audio Name; this is the name you'd like the AI characters to call you.
  2. You're then presented with the Main Menu which includes the items below. Grid World is basically the Career mode, while Race Day is basically like the Arcade mode found in other racing games.
    Grid WorldRace DayMultiplayerOptionsExtras
When starting a new gamesave, it's usually a good idea to set your preferences before doing anything else. You can do so now by choosing the "Options" item. Here's an example of what I'd normally change:
My Profile > Edit ProfileAutoSave: Off *
Driving Options > ControlsPreset 2: checked (set)
Driving Options > Force FeedbackForce Strength: 10%, Force Weight: 10%, Effects Strength: 10%
      Screen SetupSpeed Unit: Km/H
      Sound SetupMusic Volume: 0%
Note that, if you turn off
AutoSave, you'll need to remember to manually save the game whenever you want to save the current gamestate (e.g., before buying a car that you're not sure about, or before quitting the game to shut down the PS3).
  3. Choosing Grid World for the first time takes you straight into a 1-lap introductory race on the San Francisco GP course using a Ravenwest Dodge Viper SRT-10. You can change the camera view by pressing the [Triangle] button. As the guy on the com will tell you, it's not important how you finish the race, as long as you finish. After each race, the program automatically starts a Replay, which you can exit by pressing the [START] button.
  4. For finishing the introductory race, you're given 3 Tier1 licenses (one for each of the 3 regions: USA, Europe, and Japan), as shown on the "Race Licence" screen. The screen also shows that there are 2 more licenses in each region: a Tier2 license is obtained when you've earned 80,000 RP (Reputation Points) in a region, while a Tier3 license requires 250,000 RP.
  5. Exiting the "Race Licence" screen brings you to your Garage where your business manager will tell you that you'll need to earn some money to restore a car and start your own team. The exact amount will be in 1 of 3 currencies, depending on your Country setting:
      • Pounds : 40,000 (x1.0)  • Euros : 60,000 (x1.5)  • Dollars : 80,000 (x2.0)
  6. You're then presented with the "Driver Offers" screen which gives you a choice of 3 teams to drive for. Pressing [X] on a Driver Offer gives you more information and you can press the [Left]/[Right] buttons to toggle between Event or Car info. Before each race, you'll be presented with a Race Options screen. If you're not a longtime fan of other titles from Codemasters, I'd recommend setting the Difficulty to "Basic" while you get used to the cars and tracks. You'll earn slightly less RP, but it won't affect the amount of prize money awarded and, if you need to, you'll be able to choose "Restart Race" from the Pause Menu. Note that, at this stage, selecting Grid World from the Main Menu will take you to the "Driver Offers" screen since the normal Grid World menu won't yet be available.
  7. Once you've done enough Driver Offers to earn the required amount of money, you'll be given the opportunity to set up your own team. After entering your team's name, you're presented with the Team Branding options which allow you to select a Pattern, Colours, and Car Number. Having your own team means you now have access to the normal Grid World menu which includes Race Events, as well as Driver Offers. Here's a summary of the main differences between the two:
     Driver Offers Race Events
      • Single races using cars owned by other teams.
      • Doesn't pay much in the way of RP.
      • Awards an Appearance Fee just for finishing the event.
      • Ideal for trying out some cars that you don't yet own.
      • Championships using your own team's cars.
      • Pays a relatively high amount of RP.
      • Money can be earned by satisfying sponsor objectives.
      • A teammate can also help bring in some money.
Other things worth mentioning at this stage:
    • Before doing anything in Race Events, I'd recommend unlocking some free cars to get a bit of a headstart.
    • Whenever you acquire new sponsors, be sure to put your best sponsor in the "Major" slot (i.e., the first/leftmost slot).
    • In Grid World, a Season consists of 5 events. For the Season finale, you'll get an invite for the Le Mans 24-Hour. Since the race has the potential to be a relatively high-paying event, it's probably a good idea to learn it fairly early on, and you can do so in Race Day using either a Panoz or Porsche.
    • At some point, you may get a message saying something like "I think you won those races too easily. Up your difficulty level and up your reputation". However, unless you're utterly bored with winning, I'd recommend ignoring the message and keeping your current settings.

Example Walkthrough

There are many ways to play through Race Driver GRID and this is just one example. This walkthrough assumes that you're a fan of pretty much all of the forms of racing featured in this game, including drifting, street racing, and simulation-style racing. If you're a fan of only simulations of real-life circuit racing, see the
Simulation-Only Walkthrough. For the tables in this section, the first column shows the recommended car to use if you don't have a preference (with a price in parentheses if the car needs to be bought), while the second column shows the events with the possible locations listed after the double dash (--).
  1. Go through all the preliminary stuff as described in Getting Started. For the steps below, remember to update your sponsor lineup whenever you get new ones, and remember that you'll get an invite for the Le Mans 24-Hour after every 4 events, regardless of the final results.
  2. With all 3 Tier1 event groups unlocked in Race Events, you have 18 events to choose from, 9 of which you already have cars for (assuming you've unlocked all of the bonus cars). Do any 4 of those and then do the Le Mans 24-Hour Season finale (choose "Team Entry" if you want to use the Aston Martin, or choose "Driver Offers" to use a Panoz or Porsche). With the first Season done, the goal is to reach 80,000 RP in your favorite region to unlock its Tier2 events, and you can do any combination of Tier1 events to achieve that goal.

  3. Unlocking the Tier2 events of any region moves you to a new 2-car Garage and allows you to hire a teammate. If you want to hire a different teammate either now or later, you can do so via Grid World > My Team > Team Mate. The new goal is to reach 250,000 RP in your favorite region to unlock its Tier3 events. To achieve that goal, you can do any combination of the Tier2 events below, or any combination of the Tier1 events from the previous step. Note that the F4 Midnight Touge is held in public traffic and you'll need to keep in mind that they drive on the left in Japan.
Aston Martin DBR9 E3. Aston Vs Corvette Challenge -- Donington, Nurburgring, Istanbul, Milan

  4. The goal now is to unlock the Tier4 events by reaching 1,000,000 Glabal RP. To achieve that goal, you can do any combination of the Tier3 events below and/or any combination of events from previous steps.
Aston Martin DBR9 I2. Volk GT Series -- Shibuya, Okutama
Audi R10 TDI (10,000,000) H3. Le Mans Series LMP1 -- Donington, Nurburgring, Spa, Jarama, Istanbul

  5. Having Tier4 unlocked means that sponsors and the LM24H are now less useful since you no longer need the money nor the RP. The goal in this final step is to win all of the Tier4 events and then win the Tier4 Head2Head. Note that the Head2Head's Race Options will have the Difficulty set to Extreme and you'll need to remember to reset it afterwards (assumimg you want to finish off ay undone events).

Simulation-Only Walkthrough

Although Race Driver GRID appears to be mainly for fans of street racing games of the legal and illegal kind, there are parts of this game that may also appeal to fans of simulations of real-life circuit racing. This walkthrough is for that latter group. The main focus here is on the Europe region, while the USA and Japan regions are entirely skipped. Note that this walkthrough is not necessarily about game completion since the idea is to keep the annoying stuff to a minimum and, if you're not a fan of illegal street racing games, there is a lot that can be skipped. For the tables in this section, the first column shows the events with possible locations listed after the double dash (--), while the second column shows the recommended car to use if you don't have a preference (with a price in parentheses if the car needs to be bought).
  1. Go through all of the preliminary stuff, keeping in mind that, for the Driver Offers, it's probably best to just do the second/middle ones (i.e., the ones that correspond to the Europe region).
  2. With Race Events now available, there will be 2 events in the Europe region that you already have cars for (as shown in the table below). Do any combination of 4 events, keeping in mind that B1 might be a bit annoying since it's held on the kinds of tracks that this walkthrough wants to avoid. Since this walkthrough isn't about game completion, you could skip B1 and just do any combination of B2 and Driver Offers. Alternatively, if you sold some of the bonus cars, you could also do one or more of the events from Step 3 below. The goal is basically to just do enough events to get your first invite for the Le Mans 24-Hour. When you get the invite, choose "Team Entry" to use the Aston Martin, or choose "Driver Offers" to use a Panoz or Porsche.
B1. Bilstein Festival Milano -- Milan Ford Mustang Boss 302
     B2. BMW Challenge -- Nurburgring BMW 320si
DO. Driver Offers -- [various] [various]
LM. Le Mans 24-Hour -- Le Mans Aston Martin | Panoz | Porsche
  3. The goal now is to reach 80,000 RP in the Europe region to unlock its Tier2 events. To achieve that goal, you can do any combination of the Tier1 events below and/or redo any events from the previous step. Whenever you get new sponsors, remember to set the lineup so that your best sponsor is in the first slot. Also, remember that you'll get an LM24H invite after every 4 events, regardless of the final results. When choosing a car for the next LM24H, keep in mind that the DBR9 bonus car won't earn you any sponsor money while the C5R will.
     B3. BMC Formula 1000 -- Donington, Nurburgring, Jarama JRC FJ1000 (25,000)
     B4. Dunlop Spa Challenge -- Spa-Francorchamps Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-Tune (82,000)
B5. Firestone TVR Showdown -- Donington TVR Tuscan Challenge (40,000)
B6. Goodridge Trophy -- Istanbul Chevrolet Lacetti (56,000)
LM. Le Mans 24-Hour -- Le Mans Corvette C5-R | Aston Martin DBR9
  4. Besides unlocking a new event group, a Tier2 license also moves you to a new 2-car garage and allows you to hire a teammate. Since all 3 of the initial choices are equally bad, just choose the default (Seth Brown). Then, from the Grid World menu, choose My Team > Team Mate and then press [Square]. For the Signing On Fee, press [Right] once, then set % Of Winnings to 21-30%. Press [X] to Search and then hire Malcolm Coleman.
  5. The goal now is to unlock the EU Tier3 events by reaching 250,000 RP. To achieve that goal, you can do any combination of the Tier2 events below, or you can redo some of the Tier1 events from previous steps.
E1. Le Mans Series GT2 -- Spa, Istanbul, Nurburgring, Jarama, Donington Spyker C8 Spyder (280,000)
E2. Mintex European F3 -- Istanbul, Donington, Spa, Jarama, Nurburgring, Milan Dallara Formula 3 (350,000)
E3. Aston Vs Corvette Challenge -- Donington, Nurburgring, Istanbul, Milan
E5. Le Mans Series GT1 -- Istanbul, Spa, Donington, Jarama
     Chevrolet Corvette C5-R
E4. Euro Touring Car Series -- Nurburgring, Jarama, Istanbul, Spa, Milan Chevrolet Lacetti
E6. Omex Supercar Series -- Istanbul, Nurburgring, Donington, Milan Pagani Zonda R
LM. Le Mans 24-Hour -- Le Mans Chevrolet Corvette C5-R
  6. With EU Tier3 unlocked, the goal now is to earn enough to buy an eligible car. If you won all of the Tier2 events, you can start by winning the Head2Head for that Tier. You can also redo one or more of the events from previous steps until you can afford a Courage C65. The car can then be used to earn enough for an Audi R10 or Mazda 787B which, in turn, can be used to earn enough for the other car. Note that, although the Mazda is more easily affordable, the Audi might be a better choice since H1 is more reminiscent of NASCAR racing than Endurance. Also note that if you can't yet afford the Audi by the time the next LM24H comes around, you can use the Courage C65 instead, but keep in mind that an LMP2 class win might not be as easy as other class wins. Also, once you've won the LMP1 class of the LM24H, remember to set your sponsors and put Bang & Olufsen in the Major slot.
     H1. Virgin Mobile Endurance Classic -- Le Mans 1968 Mazda 787B (5,200,000)
H2. Le Mans Series LMP2 -- Donington, Nurburgring, Spa, Jarama, Istanbul Courage C65 (3,500,000)
H3. Le Mans Series LMP1 -- Donington, Nurburgring, Spa, Jarama, Istanbul Audi R10 TDI (10,000,000)
LM. Le Mans 24-Hour -- Le Mans Audi R10 TDI | Courage C65
  7. Since this walkthrough isn't about game completion, this step is entirely optional and, if you want to, you can skip to the next step. The goal in this step is to reach 1,000,000 Global RP to unlock the Tier4 events, and you can redo as many of the previous events as you need to, to achieve that goal. If you want to redo the LM24H (for 100,000 RP per LMP1 win), you can speed up the invites by starting and retiring from events in Driver Offers. Note that, once you've unlocked Tier4, you'll no longer need to put much importance on sponsors and LM24H events since you probably won't need more money or RP. As the table below shows, the Tier4 events can include races held on tracks from all 3 regions. Keep in mind that, even at the Basic difficulty level, these events might not be as easy as they should/could be and, if you're not a fan of illegal street racing games, some of the races will be extremely annoying. However, probably the best reason for doing the Tier4 events is to unlock the bonus material awarded for winning the Tier4 Head2Head.
J1. Philips World Championship -- Detroit, Okutama, Milan, Washington, Istanbul Dallara Formula 3
J2. Bridgestone Challenge -- Detroit, Washington, Nurburgring, Istanbul, Milan, Okutama Chevrolet Lacetti
J3. Advan Drift International -- Shibuya Toyota Corolla GT-S AE86
J4. Brembo World GT -- Washington, Shibuya, Istanbul, Jarama, Long Beach, Nurburgring Koenigsegg CCGT (1,500,000)
J5. Castrol Prototype Series -- Long Beach, Washington, Nurburgring, Milan, Spa Mazda 787B
J6. Kenwood Global Series -- San Francisco, Washington, Jarama, Shibuya, Okutama Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-Tune
  8. The purpose of this step is to offer a few suggestions for further gameplay. All of these are, of course, entirely optional since this walkthrough isn't about game completion. Of the above, the endurance events will probably be the most enjoyable since they'll never include Ravenwest cars and they'll never include variations of tracks other than the ones that exist in real life.

Gameflow Example

The example below is from a gamesave where the main goal was to acquire all 47 ownable cars in a fairly efficient way. Note that Season 0 is basically just
preliminary stuff. For the Events column, each line is in the format [Event] - [Car Used]. The number after the @ sign is the Difficulty level that the event was done in: 1=Basic, 2=Normal, 3=Serious, 4=Savage, 5=Extreme. Events where no Difficulty level is shown were done at the Serious level. For the cars in the Events column, a price (in pounds) is shown if the car needed to be bought.

Race Events, you'll come across an event where the Ravenwest team is part of the grid lineup. The races of any of those events will generally be a few notches more difficult than they should be. Even with the Difficulty set to Basic (the easiest), Ravenwest will be a bit of a PITA to beat. However, knowing a bit about the team may make beating them a bit less of a pain. First of all, I'd recommend using the Basic difficulty setting for any event where you think Ravenwest might show up. With the Difficulty set to Basic, the Ravenwest cars will have 2 characteristics:
• If you're ahead, the Ravenwest cars will be on your tail pretty much the whole time. If you do get a gap, it won't be for very long because of a kind of "rubberbanding" effect. If you have good pace, the 3 of you (you and the 2 Ravenwest cars) will eventually pull away from the rest of the field so that there will be a noticeable gap on the MiniMap.
• If you're far behind, the Ravenwest cars will adjust their pace so that it's fairly easy to catch them within a fairly short time. If you're not so far behind, you can run at half-throttle and still keep up with them fairly easily. With this slow of a pace, even the "lesser" cars will be able to keep up and there probably won't be much of a gap between the first and last place cars.
With those 2 points in mind, it's probably best to avoid leading the race too early. It's often possible to get a bit of a gap just after passing the Ravenwest cars, so the best time to pass is probably as near to the end of the race as possible. For the Le Mans 24-Hour, if you're competing in the LMP1 class, the Audi Sport cars may have characteristics similar to the Ravenwest cars. If you're using anything other than an Audi R10, you'll probably notice that there is no way to get away from the Audi Sport cars for long. Again, the best strategy is probably to cruise around in 3rd place or lower and then take the lead near the end of the race. At first glance, it might seem like Ravenwest can show up at random times in Race Events. However, there are certain rules that apply:
1. The Ravenwest cars will only ever show up in certain modes:
 • Driver Offers : Never • LeMans 24H : Never
 • Head2Heads : Always • Race Events : One event per Tier
2. Ravenwest will only ever show up at certain events that they have cars for:
 • Aston Martin DBR9 :   E3, I2, J4 • Koenigsegg CCXR :   D4, E6
 • BMW 320si :   B2, E4, J2 • Mazda 787B :   H1, I3, J5
 • Dallara Formula 3 :   D2, E2, J1 • Nissan 350Z :   C6
 • Dodge Viper SRT-10 :   A3, A5, D5, J6 • Nissan Silvia :   D3, F1, I1, J3
 • Ford Mustang Boss 302 :   A1, B1 • TVR Tuscan Challenge :   A6, B5
3. When a new event group (A-J) is unlocked, if it's the first unlocked event group of a Tier other than Tier4, the very first event that you choose to do in that Tier will not include the Ravenwest cars.
4. Once you've done 1 event of a newly-unlocked Tier other than Tier4, if the next event that you choose to do in that Tier can include the Ravenwest cars, it will include the Ravenwest cars. Here's a list of the events that can include Ravenwest:
Tier1: A1, A3, A5, A6, B1, B2, B5, C6Tier3: H1, I1, I2, I3
Tier2: D2, D3, D4, D5, E2, E3, E4, E6, F1Tier4: J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, J6
5. If you've just finished an event that included the Ravenwest cars, you won't see them again in any other event of the same Tier.
6. Tier4 is a special case in that, when it's first unlocked, the event you choose to do first can include the Ravenwest cars. The only exception that I've seen so far is if you choose to start with J3, which may or may not include Ravenwest. In any case, if the first event doesn't include Ravenwest, the event you choose to do second will, since there are no Tier4 events that Ravenwest doesn't have a car for.
Knowing those rules means you also know when and where the Ravenwest cars might show up, and you can choose to either face them in an event of your choice or you can avoid them altogether.

Sponsors

The table below shows all of the sponsor offers that can be acquired in
Race Events and Le Mans 24-Hour. Up to 3 sponsor offers can be acquired by finishing an event in the top 3 overall. Finishing an event in 3rd place overall will earn you Sponsor1, 2nd place overall will earn you Sponsor1 plus Sponsor2, while 1st place will earn you all 3 sponsor offers. Your very first sponsor offer is applied automatically, but you'll need to apply all others manually via Grid World > My Team > Sponsors. There are 8 slots that can be allocated to sponsors that you choose from the list of all the sponsor offers that you've acquired so far. The first slot in the sponsor lineup is a special case in that this "Major" sponsor pays double.

The data in the SponsorN columns is in the format: "X1 : X2 - N1 - X3", where X1 is the name of the sponsor, X2 is the event and medal that awards the offer (.1=Bronze, .2=Silver, .3=Gold), N1 is the reward that the sponsor pays if the objective is satisfied, and X3 is the objective that needs to be satified before the sponsor pays the reward. An exclamation mark (!) means that the sponsor expects you to satisfy the objective with no car damage. The TPW (Total Potential Worth) column is meant to give an idea of which events might be best to do first (if you want to get the most out of the best sponsors).

Race Day

Race Day mode is basically like the Arcade mode found in other racing sims. All cars and all tracks are available, even if you're just starting out (i.e., there's no need to unlock anything). This makes Race Day ideal for practice or for just having fun. The table below shows an overview of the options that can be set.
