• Shox

Quirks and Features:
The Bad:
  • More of an arcade-style rally game than a rally simulation.
The Good:
  • Works with the Logitech Driving Force steering wheel.
  • Circuit rally racing instead of the usual point-to-point.

• WRC II Extreme

Quirks and Features:
The Bad:
  • No bonus items till after championship round 7 (i.e., after 42 stages).
  • Unlocked Extreme cars can only be used in Time Trials (not in championships).
  • Analogue stick (for steering) doesn't seem to work the way it should.
The Good:
  • Works with the Logitech Driving Force steering wheel.
  • Good playability (doesn't have the irritating junctions that WRC3 has).
  • Extreme cars (and other bonuses) are easier to unlock than in WRC3.

Special Thanks To:
  • Anthony Lester, for pointing out the PS2 game controller quirk, and for providing the WRC-X info.

• WRC 3: The Official Game of the FIA WRC

Quirks and Features:
The Bad:
  • Much harder to avoid car damage than in WRC2.
  • Limited number of car tuning options (only 3; WRC2 has 7).
  • Rounds 8-14 (Germany-UK) only available after podium position in WRC mode championship.
  • Takes 8-12 hours to unlock an Extreme car and 3-5 hours to unloc a Concept car.
  • Weight missing from car specs, so there's no way to calculate power-to-weight ratio.
  • An on-screen odometer would've been handy since bonus cars depend on mileage.
The Good:
  • Works with the Logitech Driving Force and allows adjusting the strength of force feedback.
  • Car upgrades (WRC Evolutions) are unlocked simply by putting mileage on the car.
  • Easier to see which gear you're in (WRC2 has tiny hard-to-read gear display).
  • Uses less space on a memory card (only 112K; WRC2 uses 1.5M).
  • 3D Car Explorer gives you a more detailed look at the cars.

Bonus Items:
BonusTo Unlock
WRC Evolutions (car upgrades)Put mileage on car (100km per upgrade, 5 upgrades max)
Rounds 8-14 (Germany-GB)Place 3rd or better in championship (WRC mode)
Championship: Expert LevelExcel at Professional Difficulty
Extreme CarsPut 750 km mileage on the WRC version of the car
Championship: Extreme LevelExcel at Expert Difficulty, unlock at least 1 Extreme Car
Time Trials: Extreme LevelWin Expert Championship, unlock at least 1 Extreme Car
Concept CarsPut 1000 km mileage on the Extreme car of the same make
Time Trials: Concept LevelUnlock at least 1 Concept Car

Miscellaneous:
  • For mileage statistics, the two Ford Focus cars (BP and Castrol) are the same; putting mileage on one will also update the mileage stats for the other.
  • Notes for Action Replay "Static Timer" cheat :
    • Timer is frozen at 00:00.02 making all new records unbeatable.
    • Cars can't be viewed in Car Menu (for selecting a car) while cheat is active.
    • Program crashes if "3D Car Explorer" is selected while cheat is active.
  • AutoSave occurs just about every time you take a car out for a spin (whether for a championship, time trial, or whatever). The bad thing about this is that the memory card gets a lot of wear and tear. The good thing is that you don't necessarily have to save championships unless you want to continue them after a powerdown. Mileage, records, and unlocked bonuses are included in the AutoSave.
  • To unlock an Extreme Car, enter Expert championship with a WRC car. Exit the championship as soon as you unlock a car, since finishing the rest of the championship won't unlock any other cars. The unlocked car will be the Extreme version of the WRC car you entered.
  • To unlock a Concept Car, enter an Extreme championship with the car make that you want the Concept Car of. Exit the championship as soon as you unlock the car, since finishing the championship won't unlock any other cars. Note that there are no Citroen or Hyundai concept cars, so you don't really need to race the Extreme versions of those two.
