Jawa perak type 11 |
Peters Coat |
The Ad |
Assembly |
Inspection by RDW |
My neighbour Peter had been given a long leather motor coat, but his wife was not so happy with this gift, so she gave the coat to me........ This coat hange on my attic for a long time. Finely i decided to buy an classic Jawa because it was my first motorcycle and.... old love will never die. |
But now to find one, after a view internet sessions i found an ad where a partly
renovated Perak was put up for sale, we agreed over the price, and i was prowd owner of 5 boxes of Jawa parts., |
This assembly was not as easy as it seemed. Many parts had not the same age. Many small parts were missing. With much help of other Jawa enthusiasts i was able to restore the bike just like original. Now the Perak sounds and smokes like in the old days |
With help of the dutch Jawa-Cz club we found out that this Perak was build in 1952
(type 11). For obtaining a licence plate the bike had to be inspected by the dutch RDW. 2 interested inspectors did this job and found no irregularty's, As a last test i had to make an emergency stop, and while everybody was looking to the stalling rear tyre, i pulled the front brake cable in to two pieces, but fortunately nobody saw it (manifacturing fault and replaced free of charge) |
Riding the bike |
Now having my licence plate, enables me to make trips on the Jawa Perak, I ame amazed
how well this little bike rides. With only 9 Hp it is not the fastes bike around, but it gives me great joy cruising on smal and winding roads, doing 70 Km/h or so. What amases me most is how people react on the sound and looks of a classic bike. Jawa is not the most Sexy brand you can imagine But just after the war it was well sold, and for many people, just like me....... Old Love Will Never Die !! |
