Chapter: -finishing touch -

The wooden beams for the seat have been placed 3 cm. forward. Under the seat I glued 2 pieces of foam. A special construction with a wooden pin was made for the backstrap.
Over this pin a wooden block was placed to keep the backstrap in place.
In an earlier stage I built the kneebraces around a PVC pipe. The time has come to glue these braces into the boat.
The lightbulbs give off enough heat to speed up the reaction time. My fear was that the clamps would come loose while I was gone. Because of the cockpit I didn't want to fasten them too tightly.
I almost forgot to make some small fittings needed to secure the hatches with rope.
Glueing these into the boat had to be done in a special way, because I could not put my head in the boat, I had to work with mirrors again.
At the same time i was able to do some re-work with the epoxy.
A big day. The temperature outside is 8 - 12 degrees Celcius, there is no wind and it's dry. I decided to fill the ends of the boat with a few cc. of epoxy. I simply poured the epoxy into the boat and waited until it reacted.
I used a quick harder for the epoxy and will never do that again. This epoxy got so hot that it practically boiled, I was afraid that my boat would go up in flames. My advice is to always use a slow epoxy and not too much at once, even in cold temperatures.
Just a picture to show how long this boat is.
After filling the ends of the boat I made holes for the toggles.
The toggles too are made of Ashwood. The inside was coated with epoxy. The outside was coated with a 2 component poyurethane varnish. This is a very hard coating and provides UV protection.
