Quirks and Features

The Bad
  • An in-game User Manual (first introduced in GT5) is no longer included. This seems to suggest that either the manual wasn't yet finished when the game was released or the game now includes so much bloat that the manual no longer fits on the game disc. It's also possible that the developers had so many plans for changes in online gameplay that an in-game manual would've become obsolete too quickly but, for people who only play offline, the exclusion of an in-game User Manual will most likely be seen as a step backwards from GT5.
  • There doesn't seem to be any way to view a car's stats (mileage, race wins, etc) unless it's the current car. In GT5, it's possible to view a car (and even change its settings) without switching to it; in comparison, the features in GT6's Garage seem much more limited.
  • Settings no longer include the option of restoring the defaults. This means that you'll either need to keep track of the defaults separately or leave one of the 3 Setups (A, B, or C) unmodified. The inability to restore defaults seems like another step backwards from GT5. Note: This quirk has been fixed in GT6 v1.22 which does give you the ability to restore the defaults.
  • All races are restricted in one way or another, much like in Gran Turismo 2 except that GT6 uses PP ratings instead of BHP, and GT2 does include some unrestricted races. The restrictions in GT6 will often necessitate adjusting car setups and/or switching cars more often. The absence of any unrestricted races also means that some cars will be completely useless for normal gameplay; the Gran Turismo X2010/X2011 and Formula Gran Turismo, for example, aren't eligible for any normal events because their minimum PP ratings exceed the 750pp maximum allowed.
  • Replay mode is automatically started after each race and there doesn't seem to be any option to disable it. Also, the automatic replay doesn't have the normal replay options (HUD, etc), although those options are available if you start the Replay from the Race menu. This seems to suggest that the data for the automatic replay is somehow different than the data for the normal replay; however, this is highly unlikely since it would be a huge waste of resources.
  • Credits are harder to come by than ever before. Also, the Cr.20,000,000 limit from GT5 is still in GT6 (although you won't see it as soon because it'll take much longer to reach that point). Note: The limit in GT6 v1.22 has been raised to Cr.50,000,000.
  • Coffee Breaks, Mission Races, One-Make Races, License tests, and even the Goodwood Festival Of Speed events all count towards game completion percentage, and 100% requires all golds. This means that average players will only ever reach 70-80% unless they're willing to spend a huge amount of time to become experts. In other titles in the Gran Turismo series, license tests count for the same amount of game completion, regardless of whether the tests are passed with bronze, silver, or gold. Also, it seems odd that Coffee Breaks even count at all, since the name seems to imply that they're optional (i.e., just for fun).
  • The program has a tendency to crash the system every now and then, forcing you to press the power button to reset the PS3. This seems to happen more often in GT6 than in any other non-PC game that I've seen so far. Note: All critical bugs seem to have been fixed in GT6 v1.22.
  • The normal camera view when driving a Lotus Europa (S.2 '68 or Special '72) makes it look like you're in something like a giant monster truck. You need to switch to the Driver's-eye or Bonnet View to get something that comes closer to Normal View. Note: This has been fixed in GT6 v1.22.
  • Cars tend to flip over too easily and will often leave you wondering if that's even really possible in real-life. The tendency to flip over unexpectedly makes some cars nearly useless. Note: This seems to have been fixed in GT6 v1.22.
  • Some of the races for faster cars are held on questionable tracks. In real life, Willow Springs is mainly used for testing cars for magazines like Road & Track and not for any kind of professional racing (as far as I know). The inclusion of Willow Springs makes GT6 feel more like a game than a simulation. Cape Ring is another questionable track that's more reminiscent of a homemade toy track than anything you'd see in real life. Also, the real-life Nurburgring 24H nowadays is limited to GT3-class cars and it was way back in the 1970s when the Nordschleife was deemed too dangerous for Formula One. Given that the track hasn't been made much safer in all those years, GT6 deviates from real-life by using that track for racing LMP/GroupC cars. Similarly, Bathurst is another track that's not normally used for anything faster than V8 Supercars, UTE, and other modified road cars (as far as I know), and using it for racing LMP/GroupC cars seems equally irresponsible.
  • Bug: After Suspending the same championship 3 or more times, there is a high risk that the data in the gamesave will be reset and the progrm will start up as if you're starting a new gamesave from scratch. This bug is all the more serious because, for some championships, if you don't Suspend sometime before the last race, the program can crash and you'll need to do the whole championship all over again. Note: These bugs seem to have been fixed in v1.22.
  • Some elements are extremely annoying and could very well be considered serious health risks. One good example is the Daytona race in the NASCAR Cup. The race is annoying enough in GT5, so I really don't uderstand why the developers felt the need to make it even more annoying in GT6.
The Good
  • Works with several steering wheels, including PS2 versions of the Logitech Driving Force.
  • Controller functions are highly configurable. This is especially useful when one or more buttons fail to work properly, in which case, you can reassign the function to a different button or stick.
  • Includes onscreen accelerator/brake gauges (handy for checking the proper working of buttons or sticks or pedals).
  • Includes a Zoom feature ([R2] by default) that makes it a bit easier to read text on small screens.
  • Includes lots of interesting car info which can be viewed at the car dealers.
  • When you win a car that's available in various colors, you're given the opportunity to choose the color.
  • No longer includes B-Spec mode. Note: GT6 v1.22 does include B-Spec in the Race menu, but it's optional, not mandatory.
  • No longer includes a Used Car Dealer, and there are no cars that can only be won as a prize. All cars can now be bought new (as far as I know).
  • Cars that cost Cr.500,000 or more (i.e., cars that have no selling value in GT5) can now be sold for credits.
  • Includes changing weather and lighting conditions. These were first introduced in GT5 and further improved upon in GT6.
  • Most upgrades can be bought while in Settings, so you don't necessarily have to visit the Parts Shop unless you want external parts (e.g., wings, wheels, etc).
  • On many of the screens, you can use the [Start] button to switch to a different car or change the settings of the car you're in. This means that if you're in an Event menu and it shows that your car isn't eligible, you can easily change the settings to try to make it eligible, or switch to a different car.
  • Weight reduction and engine tuning (i.e., upgrades that are permanent in other titles in the Gran Turismo series) can now be uninstalled to bring a car back to its stock state.
  • Tire wear indicators now include numbers as well as the traditional bars. GT6 v1.22 additionally shows which types of tires are fitted.
The Good Or Bad (Depending On Your Viewpoint)
  • The traditional endurance races have been replaced with races that are much shorter; the 24-hour races, for example, have been replaced with races where the time of day is accelerated. Casual gamers will probably appreciate the fact that they won't need to do any races that take longer than about 30-35 minutes but, for fans of endurance racing, it would've been nice to have at least a few races that take longer.
  • Expert gamers who enjoy some of the more difficult racing games will probably find that GT6 offers lots of challenging events to keep them busy. Longtime fans of the Gran Turismo series, however, will probably find that there are more irritants in GT6 v1.00 than in all other releases combined (including concept/prologue releases). GT6 v1.22 comes closer to what longtime fans would expect, but it requires a lengthy online update since, as far as I know, there is no Platinum version that includes the bug fixes and other features. GT6 is possibly the only Gran Turismo title that hasn't gone Platinum, which isn't too surprising since v1.00 feels very much like beta software and not likely to be recommended by or for many people. If you're a longtime fan of the Gran Turismo series, I'd recommend either upgrading to v1.22 or skip GT6 altogether.

Additional Quirks and Features v1.22:
The Bad
  • Many of the goal times (license tests, Goodwood, etc) have changed, possibly making them harder to beat.
  • The PP ratings of some cars are higher than they should be, making them pretty much useless for most of the events that they're eligible for. Examples are: the DeltaWing cars, and the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2014 Junior.
The Good
  • Special Events includes the Ayrton Senna Tribute which features slideshows and a movie highlighting various stages of his life and career.
  • Special Events also includes the Sierra Time Rally which, along with the Ayrton Senna Tribute, give you the opportunity to win an alternative starter car and/or earn some extra initial credits.
  • Includes a new dealer called Vision GT which features a collection of unique concept cars, at least two of which are useful as affordable alternatives to high-end LM cars.
  • Cars no longer go through a "breaking-in" period. New cars now start and stay in a "broken-in" state that isn't affected by mileage.
  • Some car prices have gone down and most events pay more.
  • For the S-class races, the leaderboard shows which cars are pitting.
  • Many road cars can now be assigned car numbers.

The Cars

Car List

The table below includes the cars that are available in both GT6 v1.00 and GT6 v1.22. For a list of the cars that are only available in GT6 v1.22, see
Additional Cars. For the Dr,As column, Dr is the drivetrain (4W = 4-Wheel Drive, FF = Front-engined Front-wheel drive, FR = Front-engined Rear-wheel drive, MR = Mid-engined Rear-wheel drive, RR = Rear-engined Rear-wheel drive), and As is Aspiration (N = Normal, S = SuperCharged, T = Turbo, E = Electric).

PP is the car's rating expressed in Performance Points, Bhp is Brake HorsePower, and Kg is weight in Kilograms. As is common in the Gran Turismo series, ratings may vary depending on where the data is viewed and which state the car is in. The PP1 ratings were taken from GT6 v1.00 where cars start in St0 and gradually reach St2 over the course of 300km, while the PP2 and Bhp ratings were taken from GT6 v1.22 where cars start off in St2 and remain in that state.

In GT6, all cars can be bought from a dealer (i.e., there are no prize-only cars). The number in the Acquire column is the car's price taken from GT6 v1.00; a '~' prefix means that the price has changed in GT6 v1.22. The text following '@' is the region where the dealer can be found (EU = Europe, AP = Asia-Pacific, NA = North America); note that the region is listed only once per make. If a car can be acquired as a Prize, the text following '|' is the event where it can be won; note that, if you're running GT6 v1.00, an asterisk (*) means that either the event doesn't award the car or the event itself isn't available.

Class Events

For the Events column of the table below, a number in parentheses means that you'll need to acquire that amount of
stars to unlock the event, while an event listed in parentheses means that you'll need to complete the listed event first. The Events column also shows the maximum amount of credits that can be earned and the approximate time the event will take. Where 2 amounts are separated by '|', the amount on the left is for GT6 v1.00, while the amount on the right is for GT6 v1.22. Note that events that begin with the letter 'E' are not available in GT6 v1.00. The data in the Restrictions column is in the format "MaxPPTiresOthers". For the Races column, numbered races are part of a Championship, while bullets (•) denote Single Races. The number in parentheses is the number of laps unless it's followed by 'm' meaning Minutes. An appended 'n' means that part or all of the race is held in Night time or low visibility conditions, and an appended 'w' means that variable Weather is implemented. The points awarded for placing in Championship races are: 100 (1st), 75 (2nd), 60 (3rd), 50 (4th), 40 (5th), 30 (6th), 20 (7th), 15 (8th), 10 (9th), 5 (10th).

One-Make Races

These are basically like
Class Events, except that they don't award any Stars. Before buying a car for any of these, check the in-game list to make sure it's eligible. As in other titles of the Gran Turismo series, completing the One-Makes will generally cost more than they'll earn back, so it's probably best to save the ones that you don't already have a car for for a later stage of gameplay.

Coffee Break Challenges

Contrary to what the name seems to imply, these aren't really "breaks" since they do actually count towards game completion. In the rightmost columns of the table below, 'c' is cones, 'm' is meters, and 'p' is points.

Goodwood Festival Of Speed

For the first column of the table below, the parenthesized number in the column header is the number of stars required to unlock the Set. There is, however, one other requirement: you'll also need to enter at least one event of the previous Set. For example: if you've already earned 75 stars without having done a single Goodwood event, you'll need to enter and exit at least one event in Set 1 to unlock Set 2, and then enter and exit at least one event in Set 2 to unlock Set 3. It doesn't matter whether or not you win a medal in Set 1 or Set 2; just entering and exiting is sufficient to unlock the next Set. The Gold1 and Gold2 columns show the goal times for GT6 v1.00 and v1.22, respectively. Note that GT6 v1.00 does not award prize cars for achieving all Gold, while GT6 v1.22 does (see
Additional Prize Cars).

Lunar Exploration

The Lunar Exploration Missions are unlocked when you acquire your A license. Given that the Goodwood events count towards game completion percentage, it seems logical to assume that these also count (though I don't have the skills to verify this).

Additional Events v1.22

In addition to the 3 extra events in Class Events, GT6 v1.22 also includes the Red Bull X Challenge (Career Mode), Ayrton Senna Tribute (Special Events), and Sierra Time Rally (Special Events). The Red Bull X Challenge is unlocked by obtaining an IB license, while the Ayrton Senna Tribute and Sierra Time Rally are unlocked when the first Career Mode event is unlocked (i.e., after buying the mandatory Honda Fit).

• Career Mode > Red Bull X Challenge

The first 3 Red Bull X Challenge events are similar to other Class Events in that they'll award credits, no matter how often you redo them. On the other hand, they're also similar to the events in Special Events in that they won't earn you any Stars and they don't require you to own the cars that you'll use. The Red Bull X Challenge events are unlocked in much the same way as the Novice Class events. Acquiring an IB license unlocks the first event (X1), completing the first event unlocks the second (X2), and completing the second event unlocks the third (X3). Note that "complete" means finishing the championship in any Top 3 position (i.e., any medal for the championship).

• Special Events > Ayrton Senna Tribute

The Ayrton Senna Tribute consists of 4 Time Trials in 3 Chapters. Each Chapter features 2 or more slideshows of a period in the life and career of Ayrton Senna. The first slideshow of each Chapter starts automatically when you choose a Time Trial. For Chapters 1 and 2, the bonus slideshow is unlocked after you've successfully completed the Time Trial with Bronze or better. For Chapter 3, completing the first challenge unlocks the second, and completing the second challenge unlocks the bonus slideshow. Completing both challenges of Chapter 3 also unlocks the "Ayrton's Wish" bonus, which features a slideshow plus movie. Note that there are also suits and cars that can be won here.

• Special Events > Sierra Time Rally

The Sierra Time Rally consists of Time Rally and Practice. Time Rally includes 4 challenges, all of which are available from the start. Each challenge is held on the same tarmac course using a different car, and each one takes about 15 minutes to complete. In the table below, the Gold/Silver/Bronze column shows the score needed to earn the medal. The prize car for a Gold score is the car that's used for the challenge. Note that these challenges don't necessarily have to be done in any particular order; you could, for example, just do the third challenge and skip the rest after you've won the Ferrari GTO.

Practice includes the 4 sectors and the full Sierra course. Although only Sector 1 is initially available, the rest are easily unlocked simply by completing the full course in any Time Rally challenge; after which, the Sierra course will also be available in Free Run. Note that, unlike in Time Rally, you use your own car in Practice; this makes Practice less suitable for practicing for the Time Rally challenges and more suitable for just having fun.

Gameplay

Getting Started

This section describes the basic steps of starting a new gamesave.
  1. On first-time startup, you're given the opportunity to set your language and adjust your screen. The program then plays an intro video.
  2. You're then presented with a dialog where you can enter the name you want to use.
  3. You're then given the opportunity to do a test lap on the Brands Hatch GP circuit. If you're in a hurry to get started, you can skip the test lap by pressing the [START] button and choosing "Exit".
  4. The program then walks you through buying your first car. Your only choice, at this stage, is the Honda Fit RS '10, with 6 different colors to choose from.
  5. When starting a new gamesave, it's usually a good idea to set your preferences, and you can do so now by pressing [START] and choosing "Options" from the dropdown menu at the top right of the screen. The menu also includes "Car Selection" and "Car Settings" which will come in handy later on.
  6. With the preliminary stuff done, you're now ready to do some racing. For an example of how to proceed from here, there is a Walkthrough for GT6 v1.00 and for GT6 v1.22. Each walkthrough includes 3 paths (A, B, and C). In general, if you're an experienced player already familiar with GT6, you'd follow Path A and, if you're just starting out still learning the cars/tracks, you'd follow Path C. Path B is basically a middle ground for anyone who is neither an expert nor a beginner. For the gameflow tables in the walkthroughs, each row of data is in the format:
    Events • Car Name (Acquire)
    Tuning Notes // Other Notes
The Acquire data will include either a price if the car is bought or an event if the car is a prize. A dash (-) for the Acquire data means that the car was already acquired elsewhere (i.e., already owned).
The Tuning Notes data is in the format:     "UpgradeLevel (+CostOfUpgrades) Lower-Upperpp, Settings"
UpgradeLevel can be Stock, Semi, or Full. Lower-Upper is the PP range that the car can be set to. The Lower end of the range is the PP rating with the Power Limiter set to 50%; note that the rating can be reduced even further by adding Ballast. Settings includes the various settings that were used for the listed events; note that this info can also be used to get an idea of which upgrades were fitted (e.g., "Spd" indicates that the upgrades includes a fully-customisable transmission).

Example Walkthrough v1.00

This section assumes you're running the original GT6 v1.00 and you've read at least
Step 6 of Getting Started. Note that this walkthrough only covers Class Events and One-Makes for a minimum of about 65% GP (Game Progress). If you're going for 100%, you'll also need Gold for all of the other events in the game. Unless otherwise specified, the PP ratings in this section are for the car in stock New state (St0). For events marked with an exclamation mark (!), see Rivals To Avoid.
  1. Novice Class. The goal in this first step is to complete the Novice-class events and then do the tests to acquire your B license.
    N1, N2, N3, LB • Honda Fit RS '10 (Cr.17,000)
    Stock 346pp, BB:3/7, TCS:3
In Step 2 (below), there are 3 paths to choose from, and the recommended path (A, B, or C) depends on your current results.
      A.  All Novice events gold, plus all gold for the B License tests.
      B.  All Novice events gold, plus mixed medals for the B License tests.
      C.  Novice events completed with mixed medals, plus mixed medals for the B License tests.
  2. Early Stage. The goal in this step is to earn some credits without spending too much on cars and/or upgrades.
    • A. This path assumes you know GT6 well enough to be able to pass all of the A License tests with gold times to win a KTM X-Bow to use in Step 3. Note that, if you're capable of winning the KTM but you'd rather use a ZZII for Step 3, you can opt to follow Path B instead.
    B1, B5, B9, LA2 A: 1. Renault Sport Clio R.S. '11 (CN)
    Stock 399pp, BB:3/7, TCS:3
    • B. The main goal here is simply to earn enough credits to buy a ZZII for the next step. Since the A license isn't important at this stage, B1 can also be skipped (for now) since its main purpose in Path A is to unlock the license tests.
    B5, B9 B: 1. Renault Sport Clio R.S. '11 (CN)
    Stock 399pp, BB:3/7, TCS:3
    • C. A non-win in Novice class means you won't yet have the Clio that's used in Paths A and B. One alternative is to buy a Nissan mm-R Cup Car (Cr.25,000) which is capable of winning many of the same events. However, a better option is to buy a Toyota Altezza Touring Car (Cr.35,000) that's much more useful. Note that you'll need an extra Cr.7,000 for SH tires (for a total of Cr.42,000) since there are no B-class events where the supplied RH tires are allowed. In addition to the events listed below, you can also use the Altezza to go back and win any N-class races that haven't already been won.

  3. Intermediate Stage. The main goal here is to earn enough credits to buy a later-stage car for Step 4.
    • A. Of the cars that can be won in the early stages of gameplay, the KTM is probably the most useful. This path aims to get the most out of the car without spending anything on upgrades. Note that this path assumes you know GT6 well enough to be comfortable using a Corvette Z06 LM as a high-end LM alternative. If you'd rather use a high-end LM car for Step 4, you can opt to follow Path B instead.

    • B. The goal in this step is to earn enough credits to buy a Toyota GT-One for Step 4. This step finishes up with the S5 'money-maker' which may need to be won about 9 times to end up with about Cr.3,000,000. For S5, the "lift and coast" technique is the key to making your fuel last long enough to do the 3-lap race in a single stint. Note that, since this is the middle-ground path, the gameflow shown here doesn't necessarily need to be followed to a tee. To unlock the S license tests, finishing the IA13 championship in 3rd place overall will suffice, but you also have the option of leaving IA13 for later and doing the IA10 'money-maker' instead. Note that there are at least 2 other alternatives to doing the S5 'money-maker'. One alternative, if you've so far had a fairly easy go of it, is to fully upgrade the Z06 LM and then follow Path A in Step 4; in which case, a 'money-maker' is unnecessary. Another alternative, if things haven't gone so easily, is to do the IA11.4 'money-maker' using a NASCAR SS as in Path C (below).

    • C. This step continues using the Altezza, but now in broken-in state (St2) and fully upgraded. The ZZII is used mainly to earn enough IA stars to win a NASCAR SS which is then used mainly to earn enough credits to buy a high-end LM car. To end up with about Cr.4,000,000, the IA11.4 'money-maker' needs to be won 30-35 times, which can take about 3 hours.

  4. Later Stage. The main goal here is to do some of the more difficult events which you previously didn't have a competitive car for.
    • A. If you followed Path A in the previous step, you should only have about Cr.670,000, which is nowhere near enough for a high-end LM car. However, if you already know the game well enough, the Z06 LM is a very capable alternative at a fraction of the cost.

    • C. Of the high-end LM cars that I've tested, the Peugeot 908 gave me the easiest go of it. There are 3 different versions to choose from, and any one of them will do. The 908 used here is the base version which allows you to set car numbers.

Example Walkthrough v1.22

This section assumes you're running GT6 v1.22 and you've read at least Step 6 of Getting Started. Note that GT6 v1.22 includes 2 dealers: one labeled "Dealerships" and another labeled "Vision GT". For the gameflow tables in this section, if a car's Acquire info includes "VGT", it refers to the Vision GT dealer.
  1. Senna And Sierra Events. While GT6 v1.00 is very strict about starting in Career Mode after buying the Fit, GT6 v1.22 gives you the option of starting elsewhere. If you go to Special Events, you'll see that there are 2 sets of events unlocked: the Ayrton Senna Tribute and the Sierra Time Rally. Either or both of those will give you the opportunity to earn some extra initial credits and/or win an alternative starter car. Although not required for 100% game completion, the Senna and Sierra events are well worth trying since the prizes won here can (potentially) make further gameplay much easier. For the Prize Car column of the table below, the text in parentheses is the medal required to win the car. An asterisk (*) means that the car is suitable as an alternative starter car. For the Prize Credits column, the abbreviations used are: G (Gold), S (Silver), and B (Bronze).

For Step 2 (below), the recommended path to follow (A, B, or C) depends on the results after trying one or more of the above.
      A.  Ferrari GTO '84 Tuned won in Challenge 3 of the Sierra Time Rally.
      B.  At least 150,000 extra initial credits earned in the Senna and/or Sierra events.
      C.  Senna and Sierra events skipped, or events tried but no extra initial credits earned.
  2. Early Stage. This step focuses on getting some good use out of your starter car. For Paths A and B, the starter car is competitive enough to be used well beyond Novice Class; for Path C, however, a second car is needed to achieve a similar end result.
    • A. Of the cars that can be won in the Senna and Sierra events, the Ferrari GTO is probably the most useful. Note that, as mentioned in the "Upgrade Level" topic of the Basic Tuning section, "Stock" just means "no extra upgrades". The prize version of the Ferrari GTO, as the "Tuned" in its name suggests, is already equipped with various upgrades when it's acquired, so the stock rating for this car is 577pp, while the stock rating for the dealer version is 520pp.

    • B. Having a fair amount of initial credits means you don't necessarily have to start Career Mode with the Honda Fit. For this path, the Rocket is a much more useful starter car.

    • C. This path assumes that the Fit is the only car in your Garage and that you're starting out with only the initial Cr.13,000. Note that, although the Mercedes-Benz AMG VGT can be picked up at any time after buying the Fit, it's really only useful once you've acquired your B license. For IB14, you don't necessarily need to win the championship, since finishing the championship anywhere in the Top 3 overall will unlock the IA license tests (which is the main reason for doing IB14). If you need to redo any non-wins, you can do so using the high-end intermediate-stage car in the next step.

  3. Intermediate Stage. The goal in this step is to use a small number of cars to do a large number of the remaining events. The ideal first car for this step would be one that's capable of winning the 650-750pp events. Two cars that come to mind are the Mazda LM55 and the SRT Tomahawk S, both of which are available from the Vision GT dealer. Note that there are 3 models of the SRT Tomahawk and the one used here is the S.
    • A. The handling of the Tomahawk S is somewhere between that of the Ferrari GTO and the Rocket used in the previous step, so it seems a good choice for both Paths A and B.

    • B. Compared to the Rocket, the Tomahawk S tends to oversteer a bit. Note that, although the Challenger R/T is capable of winning IB13, the event is left for a later stage because it's just more trouble than it's worth and because GT6 v1.22 makes it easier to afford a better car for the job.

    • C. Of the 2 cars mentioned in the intro to this step, the Mazda LM55 is the easier one to drive, so it seems the better choice for this path. The Alpine is a good second car for this step because it's useful for events that the LM55 isn't eligible for and it's very easy to drive. For S1, if you go easy on the tires and fuel, you can do the race in 1 stint.

  5. Game Completion. If you're going for 100% Game Progress, there's a lot more that still needs to be done. Keep in mind, however, that reaching 100% GP in GT6 is much harder than in most (if not all) other titles in the Gran Turismo series. If you're not a die-hard, I'd recommend not spending too much time on anything that's extremely annoying since the amount of irritants in GT6 could very well be considered a serious health risk. That said, the other events that count towards GP percentage are: License Tests, Mission Races, Coffee Breaks, Goodwood Festival Of Speed, Lunar Exploration, and Red Bull X Challenge. All of those need to be Gold for the full GP percentage. If there are any non-Gold Class Events and/or One-Makes, you'll also need to go back and redo those, as well. Contrary to what I previously thought, however, the Senna and Sierra events don't actually count towards GP percentage or, at least, not much. Completing 1 challenge will get you 1% GP, but it stays at 1% no matter how many more Senna and/or Sierra events you complete thereafter.

Basic Tuning

This section describes some basic ways to make a car more competitive or make it eligible for a particular event. Car Settings can be accessed from the Garage or Race menu, or by pressing [START] on any screen that has the red Start button icon near the top right. For the topic titles in this section, the text in parentheses is the abbreviation used in the tuning notes of the example walkthroughs (
v1.00, v1.22).

"Money Makers"

If you're running GT6 v1.00, the table below shows the events that can be used to earn a fair amount of credits in a fairly short time. If you're running an upgraded version of GT6, see the notes below this table.

If you're running GT6 v1.22, you can use the Senna and/or Sierra events to earn a fair amount of initial credits before starting Career Mode. If you need a "money-maker" in later stages of gameplay, the third Red Bull X championship provides the best ones.
