Quirks and Features

Limited gameplay compared to other sims in the Gran Turismo series.

Works with the Logitech Driving Force steering wheel.
Includes a feature to transfer licenses and credits to a GT3 gamesave.

Car List

In the list below, cars marked with an asterisk (*) are race cars; all others are either road cars or concept cars.

The Group column shows where the car can be found: CC = Concept Cars, DC = Dream Cars, NE = New Cars Europe, NP = New Cars Pacific, and RC = Racing Cars.

For the Acquire column, '-' means that the car is initially available in Free Run without having to unlock it first; for all others, the code represents the event where the car can be acquired. Events are in the form PrefixTrackSuffix. Prefix will either be 'L' if the event is a test in Course License mode or 'R' if the event is a race in Single Race mode. Suffix for a License event will either be 'B' if the car can be won with a Bronze medal or 'G' for a Gold medal. Suffix for a Race event will either be 'N' if the car can be won by winning the race at Normal level or 'P' for Professional level.

Events

Course License

The tracks in Single Race mode are unlocked by obtaining a license in License Course mode. You only need a Bronze medal to unlock a track and win a car, but a Gold medal will earn you an extra car.

Single Race

Once you've unlocked a track, you can enter Single Race mode to race there. You have the choice of either racing at Normal or Professional level. A win at Normal level will earn you one car while a win at Professional level will earn you two cars (assuming you haven't already won at Normal level).

Getting Started

Familiarize yourself with the cars and tracks. If you're completely new to the Gran Turismo series, I'd recommend starting in Free Run mode to get a basic feel for this sim.
Unlock one or more tracks. The tracks in Single Race mode are unlocked by passing the tests in Course License mode. You'll need at least a Bronze medal to unlock a track and win a car. A Gold medal will earn you an extra car.
Unlock more cars and tracks. At this stage, you can either enter Single Race mode and race on any of the tracks you've unlocked so far, or you can go back to Course License mode and unlock any tracks that you don't yet have a license for.

Bonuses

On the Game Status page, just below the "Back" button, there are 4 gift boxes; these represent bonuses that are awarded for certain achievements.

Bonus #3 is especially useful if you have Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec and want to start a new gamesave. This bonus allows you to start (or continue) GT3 with an extra Cr.10,000,000 and all licenses. This gives you a handy quickstart since unlockng Bonus #3 in GTC is much easier than passing 48 license tests and earning 10M credits in GT3.

Miscellaneous Notes

Once you've won all of the races at Professional level, there will be a third level available. This "Ace" level can be accessed by pressing [L1]+[R1] on the Level Selection screen.
