Back in 1986, Uridium could have been just another shoot 'em up game. But it had something more. In every aspect, it felt like a finished product. It looked good, it sounded good, but most importantly, it had great playability and was very addictive.
It was easy to get into: just shoot everything in sight and evade everything that can't be shot. And once you got the hang of it, things started to get really frantic. Taking more and more risks just to finish off another wave of bad guys, you would only get yourself into more and more trouble. And just when you thought you had had enough of it, you would pick up the joystick for just one more go. And another. And another. That's what I call addiction.
To me, Uridium on the Commodore 64 is one of the best examples of how a classic video game should look like.
